ON THE ISSUES

COMMUNITY-MINDED ORIGINS

My candidacy for the Person County Board of Commissioners is not the beginning of my service to this community- it is the continuation of a lifelong commitment to the people, values, and hometown character that make Person County a place we are proud to call home. Every role I have held-City Councilman, Pastor, business owner, and active member of multiple civic organizations-has shaped my understanding of what our county needs and what our future can be when we work together.

As a City Councilman, I have had the privilege of listening to residents, weighing difficult decisions, and helping guide our city through both opportunities and challenges. This experience taught me the importance of thoughtful, transparent leadership. It also gave me a frontrow seat to the delicate balance between growth and preservation-how we can welcome new possibilities without losing the smalltown warmth and identity that define us.

My work as a Pastor has grounded me in compassion, integrity, and a deep respect for every individual in our community. Ministry is about more than sermons; it is about meeting people where they are, understanding their struggles, and helping them find hope. This perspective is essential for public service. It reminds me that policies are not abstract-they affect real families, real livelihoods, and real futures.

As a business owner, operating Shipping as Unusual and UHaul services, I have experienced firsthand the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship in a rural county. I understand what it takes to create jobs, serve customers, and keep a business thriving in a competitive environment. This insight is invaluable as Person County seeks to attract new industries while supporting the small businesses that are the backbone of our local economy.

My involvement in the Roxboro Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club, and BASICS—a multiracial organization dedicated to racial and socioeconomic unity—has strengthened my belief that progress happens when people from all walks of life come together. These groups have shown me the power of collaboration, the importance of building bridges, and the need to ensure that growth benefits everyone, not just a few.

Together, these experiences have shaped a vision for Person County that honors our past while preparing for our future. I believe in thoughtful growth-growth that brings opportunity without sacrificing the hometown feel we cherish. We need growth that strengthens our schools, supports our farmers, empowers our businesses, and protects the character of our neighborhoods. We need growth that is intentional, inclusive, and aligned with the values that make Person County special.

I am running for County Commissioner because I want to continue serving this community with the same dedication I have shown in every role I’ve held. I want to help guide Person County toward a future where our children can thrive, our businesses can prosper, and our traditions can endure. I want to ensure that as we grow, we grow with purpose—protecting what makes us unique while embracing what can make us stronger.

My life’s work has been rooted in service, unity, and stewardship. With your support, I will bring that same spirit to the Person County Board of Commissioners, working every day to honor our heritage, uplift our people, and build a future worthy of the place we call home.

I’m running for County Commissioner to put people and progress first — bringing mental health services into our jails, supporting our hardworking county staff, protecting farmland, creating more youth recreation, boosting small businesses, and partnering with the City of Roxboro for smart, balanced growth. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant county for everyone.
